Ice days

My first week back to work was cut short by the ice storm.  I've never been so thankful to be holed up in my house for 4 days. Most people might get bored or stir crazy-- but after missing my little girl all week it was just what I needed! The roads were covered in inches of ice, our front yard was like a skating rink! We played it safe and stayed at home, enjoying a fire in the fireplace, watching Christmas movies, and snuggling.

Look at that icicle!

Tucker had a ball playing in the ice! He knocked Courtney over multiple times. Lol

Winter Wonderland
Family time! :)
Sweet girl! Look at those cheeks :)
Lap dog!
Last Saturday night we took her to Sounds of Christmas at my parents church.  I had to take her out at the VERY beginning, right as the lights were dimming and the music started; but once she calmed down she was great the rest of the time.  The next morning we took her to church for the first time :)  My heart was happy as we sang Christmas hymns and I looked over at my sleeping baby.  Christmas has always been my favorite season, but it brings on an even more special meaning now.

This might be one of my favorite pictures! (Taken on the way home from church)
Hanging out with Mimi at Cracker Barrel
Going back to work has been really hard.  Emerson is a little night owl, she finally falls asleep between 12:00 and 1:00.  On nights that Nathan works late I'm up with her until he gets home around 12:00 and then I get up at 5:00 for work.  That is doable for a night or two but then I start running on fumes.  I've been just trying to make it to Christmas break! I might hibernate...

Trying to grade papers while holding sleepy girl...I'm not a good multitasker.
She was finally able to get her first shots on Wednesday.  The doctor made us wait until we visited the cardiologist before she got them.  We went to the cardiologist last Thursday and she said that her heart rate is at the high end of the normal range but she isn't exhibiting any other signs of SVT--Praise the Lord! Dr. Kao placed her on a 24 hour heart monitor and we sent that in this week so we should get the results soon.  That was a stressful process but the Lord is in control and we trust Him!

This week Aunt Katie and Courtney have been taking care of Emerson during the day while we have been at work.  They send me tons of Snapchats of her throughout the day which I love!

Isn't she the cutest?!
Thursday night was my Christmas party for school.  They had it at Babe's--the holy grail of everything chicken.  Holy moly...whoever made that decision deserves an award. YUM! It was fun to hang out with my coworkers outside of school, and we even won a gingerbread man that poops candy. Hahaha

Friday was Nathan's 24th birthday! Happy happy birthday to my best friend! This year has been so fun watching him become a dad! :) We celebrated by going to the Mavs game that evening.  It was so much fun! We even made it on the big screen! We stayed downtown that night while Emerson spent some time with Gigi.  I wasn't worried about her at all but I sure did miss her.  The next morning we headed home pretty early, we were ready to see our girl.

Friday was also my mom's birthday.  She turned the big 5-0! Happy birthday mom!! Thank you for ALWAYS being there for me. I can't wait to celebrate you! Emerson says she loves her Mimi! :)

I am SO excited for Emerson's first Christmas and I can't wait to spend time with our families! Stay tuned for  A LOT of pictures.
