School is in full swing!

So sorry for the lack of postings lately. I've had no spare time lately! Here's a little look into what our life has been like over the past month!

I started student teaching on August 27. My first week went very well! Aside from the long drive I really enjoy the school I'm at. The kids are great, and I'm learning a lot from them. I was exhausted on Friday when school got out so I came home and rested up for the Josh Abbott concert that night. Our friend Abbey came with us, we had a really good time! It was soooo crowded, JAB is definitely a favorite around here.

Saturday morning the girls headed to Lufkin for Labor Day. Nathan decided to stay home so we wouldn't have to pay to kennel the pups. It was a bummer that he wasn't able to go, but we made the best of it. Saturday we hung out at the pool all day. Our cousins got two little cutie patootie Labrador puppies. Holy moly they are so sweet! I'm so glad I got to cuddle and play with them...and then give them back to their owners. :)It was really great to spend some time with the family even if it wasn't for very long. I was really bummed that I had to be back at school on Monday. Definitely missed having that day off of school!

Another long week of school and then it was our first FIGHTIN' TEXAS AGGIE FOOTBALL GAME!!! I can't tell you how much we have missed it! We played Florida at home for our SEC opener. The crowd was electric! It was so much fun. We lost 17-20, but it certainly wasn't a blowout like a lot of non-Aggie fans thought it would be. I can't believe I didn't take any pictures at the game! Woops!

The third week of school I started doing a lot more teaching instead of just assisting. The first two weeks allowed me to get to know the school and the students and then it was time to get down to business. I taught a little bit everyday that week, and spent a lot of my evenings doing lesson plans. yuck.

Nathan is still trying to get used to my new schedule. I wake up at 5:30 so I can leave by 6:10...but I have a hard time getting up so Nathan has to set his alarm too. He hates it. Lol but I'm very thankful he's willing to do it because if it weren't for him I would probably oversleep everyday. When I leave for school I let Tucker in our room to sleep so he won't wake Nathan up wanting to come in. He sleeps in my spot, and one morning Nathan woke up and felt a warm body snuggled up to him. He freaked out because he thought I was still asleep, but it was just Tuck. That big pup is a snuggler for sure.

Friday, September 4th was Ring Day in Aggieland. Our good friend Elizabeth got her ring and on Saturday night we went to her dunk. It was crazy, but she did it! Some of our other friends from high school were there and it was really good to catch up with them!

My family also came in town for the weekend. They miss the Bug a lot. My mom had a hard time dropping her off down here but I love having her! She comes over for Sunday night dinners every week...one of these days I'm going to make her cook :) I digress! Saturday we went to Chicken Oil to watch the A&M/smu game. We smoked'em! It was really fun to watch it together. Nathan and my dad love to analyze everything, they're two peas in a pod when it comes to sports. On Sunday they went to church with us and got to see Nathan play the drums! We went to Cracker Barrel for lunch (despite mom's wishes. haha!) I loved having all of us together for the weekend. They went home and we got ready for the week ahead...

One night during my first week of student teaching I couldn't stand it anymore and I had to have some Glass family in my life! We dropped by their house after school that day...three weeks was incredibly too long. I missed Sully so much! When she wasn't showing off her dance moves to Nathan she was sitting in my lap. Gosh...spending four weeks with fifty fifth graders sure did make me miss time with my babies! And oh. my. goodness. Sage grew sooooooooooo much! It's unreal how big he is getting. He's cute as a button! Steele started her second year of high school. She posts a lot of pictures on instagram during the day, I hope they're doing some learning over there at that new school ;)

That weekend we played south carolina state. Clay and Josephine came to stay with us and Heath and Ashlyn came in town too. It was a jam packed weekend! We had to leave the game early because Katie was feeling lightheaded. It was ridiculously hot! If we had to leave a game early, it might as well have been that one because we ended up winning 70-14! Way to go Ags! These game day weekends make me feel like I need a weekend for my weekend.

Last week I had my first week of full responsibility.Phew! The week flew by because I never had an opportunity to sit down. Those kids keep me on my toes! I always remember my teacher sitting behind her desk. I have no idea how they did that?! I don't have a spare ounce of time to sit down and collect myself...hopefully that will come with time. I am genuinely learning something new everyday!

This past weekend my best friend and her hubby came in town! Sydne was my potluck roommate from UNT. We were so nervous about it, but it turned out to be such a great experience and we've been besties ever since. She moved to Arkansas when she met the love of her life and they got married almost three years ago. We get to see each other whenever they come back to visit her family who live in the metroplex. She came and stayed with us this summer and we had an awesome time! When they found out that Arkansas was playing here they decided to make the trek to CS for the game. They got here on Friday and we went to dinner and a movie that night. We saw Pitch Perfect...if you haven't seen it--you probably should. It was hilarious! The next day was the big game. Weather stations were predicting rain rain rain. We started looking for ponchos on Friday night with no luck. The game was at 11 on Saturday so we left the house early that morning...and we were on the prowl. We drove all around town and finally heard an ad on the radio from a local Aggie merchandise store saying they still had a ton in stock. Our razorback comrades were not too happy but we all ended up purchasing maroon ponchos. Sydne and Adam took a sharpie and colored "woo pig..." whatever those pigs are crazy. We had an awesome time at the game, since they were such good sports I didn't rub in our 58-10 win. That night we went to Atami for some good ole Hibachi. I made a fool out of myself as always...but at least I wasn't the only one who couldn't catch my food when the chef threw it at me! After dinner we headed to NG for a little while. They loved the fishbowl! The night would have been perfect if we had gotten a free pool table. I was so sad to see them go on Sunday :( Can't wait to see them over Christmas! And eventually be neighbors ;)

Steele also celebrated her birthday at the game! We met up with them after for a little tailgating. Happy Birthday again girly! Love you! :)

After our busy weekend, I spent Sunday gearing up for the school week. I just finished my second week of full responsibility and I am whipped! My formal observation went really well, so I can relax a little bit this next week. It's a very good feeling! I can't believe today was the half-way point. On Monday I will officially be on the downhill. YES!

Oh, by the way...three weeks ago we started a workout group. It's been so good for us. I really like that we work out with other people and it helps hold us accountable. It's three days a week which is perfect for our busy schedule. Personally, I love that it's something we can do together. It's been awesome, and we've met some really sweet people. I look forward to it every week!

So long summer!

This past week was a pretty tough one. I had my last day with the babies and Steele on Tuesday. I can't believe it's already been almost three years since I started watching Sully. She was four months old when I started babysitting her, and in July we celebrated her third birthday. I have spent a lot of time with their family, they mean the absolute world to me! Steele has become like a little sister to me, I can't believe she's about to be a sophomore! And just a few months ago sweet Sage was born. He is the CUTEST baby! Tuesday night they took us to dinner at Lupe Tortilla. Sully was entertaining as always :) I'm going to miss not seeing them everyday but Tuesday definitely wasn't a goodbye. We had a great summer! But now it's time to get back to work. I start student teaching tomorrow! Please pray for me throughout the semester, I know it will be tough but I'm ready for the challenge!

Ahhhhh the lazy days of summer...

I can't believe summer is almost over! It has absolutely flown by. Two weeks from tomorrow I start student teaching. UNREAL. I'm getting really excited, but nervous at the same time. These last couple of weeks have been pretty uneventful around our house. Last weekend my mom and Katie came to College Station for Katie's fish camp. Mom stayed with us while Katie was at camp. The first day she was here I was off of work so we headed to Lufkin for the day. It was really good to see my family and hang out by the pool :) It was a quick trip, but well worth it! While my mom was here we took Sully and Steele to see Ice Age. I looked over during the movie and Sully had the popcorn bag turned upside down over her head trying to catch every last kernel! It was hilarious :) When we left the movie she said, "that was a cute one!" She just turned three and is already a little movie critic! This past weekend Nathan's best friend Clay came and stayed with us. We had fun going to our buddy Jake's graduation on Friday night. Congrats to all the Ags that graduated this weekend! I can't wait for it to be my turn in December :) Saturday the guys went golfing while I ran errands, and then I met them at BJ's for dinner. YUM! Oh, have I not mentioned our house full of dogs? Lol we babysat two other dogs this weekend...giving us a grand total of four pooches running around the house. It was very entertaining! Tucker and Oliver really had fun, they miss their pals!

Our 1st Anniversary; As Told By Nathan!

HOWDY! IT'S NATHAN!

We went to Abilene for Martha Kate and Zac's wedding and found some fun things to do in the process! We left Friday around 2:30pm and I was NOT happy when my GPS said it was 5 hours away! (Although it turns out to only be about 4 and a half hours)

I had my fantasy football magazine and Allison began the trip as I navigated. We traded off somewhere in the middle of nowhere at a gas station. The rednecks in the gas station told Allison she could eat more because she's skinny... they also graciously waived their $5.00 minimum when our Gatorades and peanuts rang up to a grand total of $4.80. I think it was because big Al batted her eye lashes at them. WORKS EVERY TIME!

When we tried to use the bathroom in this po-dunk gas station, the aroma from the right toilet was very evidently from a toilet which was clearly out of commission. However, the man said to both of us, "Use the one on the left." I thought it was funny because: A) I could clearly hear him tell Allison when she went 2 minutes earlier, B) there was a man working on the right toilet, and C) because I couldn't stop imagining Cousin Eddie exclaiming, "Merry Christmas! Sh$@%&r's Full!"

So we arrived in Abilene and ate at Sharky's Burritos with Jennifer and her roommate! It was tasty, but I still pledge allegiance to Freebirds!

That night, Al went to Martha's Lingerie party while I watched the Opening Ceremony. It was not very exciting and I almost fell asleep when Al texted me to come get her. 

The next day we woke up and went to the ZOO! I'll let Al upload the pictures later because we're about to leave. The zoo was awesome! It was $5 and we saw so many animals! Definitely a MUST if you ever find yourself marooned in west Texas... 

The wedding was that night. We had fun and the ceremony was beautiful! The food was tasty and the little cake things were yummy too. Congrats to Martha Kate and Zac Robinson!

Sunday we drove back to College Station after breakfast. I drove the first half and she took us home! The drive was fun because we had a lot to reflect on. When we arrived we said goodbye to Courtney and Katie and then got ready for dinner! We went to Luigi's Italian and it was AWESOME! We will be going back sometime soon! 

We picked up a few movies at Target and a bottle of wine and just hung out at home after dinner. We were stuffed! We still had enough room for our wedding cake one year later! It was better than I thought it would be!

Overall, we had a great weekend! Looking forward to 100 more years with Woodle!

Home for the Weekend

Happy Monday!

Our day started off super early this morning so that we could make the drive back to College Station before work. I HATE getting up early but it’s worth it to spend a little more time with our families. Plus, Nathan drives and lets me nap. He’s the best!

This weekend was a blast though. We were both really looking forward to seeing our families since they have all been traveling during the past month.  We left for Lewisville after we got home from work on Friday.  Nathan’s dad made dinner for us and we got to relax and hang out with our good friends Clay and Josephine. 

Saturday morning the boys went golfing and I got to spend a few hours with my mom-in-law.  It was great to catch up with her, and to hear about her trip!

We spent the rest of Saturday at my parent’s house. Katie had her third knee surgery on Thursday (crossing my fingers that this is the LAST one!) so we just hung out at home watching movies and, of course, a ton of Criminal Minds sprinkled in.  My mom made the BEST enchiladas for dinner! Yummy :) We ended the night by watching one of our family favorites, The Pink Panther! I may or may not say a lot of the lines...and it may or may not be really annoying to my couch mates.  

Sunday morning we went to church and then Nathan went to his house while I went to get my nails done with Courtney and Noelle.  Thanks for the mani, Court! We HAD to make it home by 7:00 sharp for the finale of the bachelorette.  We are addicted to that stupid show. And although Nathan would like to say otherwise, he secretly enjoys it too.  Alas, another season has met its dramatic conclusion, and I can go back to doing more productive things with my time.

First blog!

We have finally joined the blogging world!  It’s been a long time coming.  I’ve seriously wanted to start a blog for months now, but we just couldn’t decide on a good name.  Finally, we’ve got it up and running and I’m so excited!

We really wanted to start this blog for two reasons. We want to keep all of our friends and family afloat on the happenings in our life; it’s difficult to make sure everyone is in the loop—so hopefully this will help! But not only that, my memory is horrible. I want to have something I can look back on.  So, if for nothing else, these ramblings will be a good reminder for me of our journey together. 

I should have started a blog right after we got married…but I didn’t get it together so I thought I would give you all a succinct look back on our almost complete first year of marriage. (I can’t believe it’s almost been a year!) I’ll sprinkle some pictures throughout so it won’t be so boring!

We got married on July 29, 2011.  It was hands down the best day of our life, to date! Not only did I get to marry my best friend, but all of our family and friends were together in one place, it was such a good day!

The day after the wedding we had a brunch at my in-laws house.  It was really good to get to visit with all of his family from out of state. After the brunch we headed to Houston to stay the night before driving to Galveston the next day and leaving for our seven day cruise.  Neither one of us had ever been on a cruise before; it was a lot of fun! We stopped in Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. Our favorite place was Grand Cayman; we would love to go back there one day.  We had so much fun relaxing, scuba diving with turtles, shopping, swimming, going to the beach, and eating a ton of food!  

When we got back from the cruise we had all of our wedding presents waiting to be unpacked at our new apartment.  That was such a fun time getting to set up our first home together.  We started school a little less than a month after we returned from the honeymoon. 

The fall semester was spent attending every Aggie home game…with a little studying on the side :)  I got my Aggie Ring on September 16!

Our first Thanksgiving was a little difficult.  I wasn’t able to make it to Lewisville because I had class the day before but Nathan was able to go home to see his family for a couple of days.  He met me in Lufkin on Thanksgiving day and we had lunch at Mawmaw and Pawpaw’s house.  They live 2 hours away from College Station so after we ate we boogied it back to town for the last A&M vs. t.u. football game.  The outcome wasn’t in our favor but it was still an awesome experience.

Nathan turned 22 on December 20.  We celebrated with a bunch of our friends in Lewisville.

Our first Christmas was interesting.  It’s hard going between families, but we’ll get the hang of it! We spent a few days at his parents before Christmas and then Christmas Eve morning we drove to Lufkin.  Christmas is my favorite time of year and I love getting to have more family to share it with now!

On New Year’s Eve we celebrated being together for five years!  We went to dinner and then rang in the New Year at home.

It’s a long story but when we were deciding on where to go for our honeymoon we originally chose Puerto Rico.  We changed our mind but forgot to cancel our plane tickets so we had to use the tickets to take a trip somewhere. What a shame! Lol Nathan tricked me into thinking we were going to Chicago but on Christmas he surprised me by telling me that we were going to Disney World! It was a quick trip but we had a really good time! It was great to see some of his family while we were there too.

On our first Valentine’s Day as a married couple I came home to find our kitchen sink full of chocolate water. Nathan had tried to make chocolate covered strawberries.  He messed up the first batch of chocolate and poured it into the sink…where it hardened in the drain! Lol it’s the thought that counts :) 

On March 30, Nathan got his Aggie Ring! His family came in town to see him receive his ring and then that night he dunked it with two of his best friends, Heath and Whitney.

Nathan graduated on May 11 with a degree in RPTS (recreation, parks, and tourism.) He began working as a Petroleum Landman in College Station…completely unrelated to his field but sometimes God opens doors in strange places. We’re beyond thankful for His provision in our marriage.

A week after Nathan graduated we moved from our apartment to a house.  We were sad to leave our first home together but we desperately needed space.  Tucker is full of energy…not to mention the fact that he’s almost 90 pounds. Now we have a backyard for him and he loves it!

Last week I turned 22! We celebrated with friends at Chuy’s, one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants and then headed to Northgate to shoot some pool and hang out with friends.

Wednesday was July 4th. We spent the day relaxing and enjoying the day off.  We saw "Moonrise Kingdom"...highly recommend! Then we celebrated America's birthday the best way we know how, watching fireworks!
