Bed rest...boo!

I went to my routine baby appointment on Thursday after school.  The nurse took my blood pressure and was concerned because the bottom number was a lot higher than it should be, so she had me lay on my side for ten minutes and then came back to check it again. It was still too high...grrrrr. When Dr. Allen came in she listened to Emmy's heartbeat (which sounded perfect) and measured my bump. It measured 35 centimeters which is exactly what it had been the week before.  It should measure 37 since I'm  37 weeks. She was worried that Emmy might not be growing like she should, which freaked me out. So we headed to the sonogram room to check everything out. I got to see her again so that was neat, and I breathed a huge sigh of relief when Dr. Allen told me she measured right on target. She's on the smaller side, weighing in at 6 pounds 5 ounces, but she's in the normal range. Phew!

Just as I'm beginning to think I'm in the clear, Dr. Allen tells me that she wants me to go next door to labor and delivery to get some tests run because she is still concerned about my blood pressure.  I drove myself to the hospital and was taken upstairs and hooked up to a fetal heart rate monitor.  (Which was pretty neat, I got to listen to her heartbeat for an hour!) They took my blood and hooked me up to a blood pressure machine...and I waited for the results.  If those hospital pillows weren't so flat I would have passed right out! Finally, the nurse came back and told me that I was good to go home but that I needed to stop working immediately.  Excuse me?!? I had no plans in order! I didn't even get to say bye to my kiddos! Thank God for my super hero 4th grade team at school for taking over for me.  They are the absolute best.

As soon as I was able to wrap my mind around the fact that I was officially on bed rest, the nurse says that I need to keep my Tuesday appointment with Dr. Allen...and that she's planning on inducing me on Wednesday! I think my jaw hit the floor. It took me by complete surprise!

On Tuesday we'll know more, but as of right now the plan is for me to be induced on Wednesday.  I'm really hoping that being on bed rest will help my BP come down and we can wait a little longer, but we'll see.

Prayers would be appreciated!

Living for the weekends

Today was so nice.  After a hectic week at work for both of us, we were finally able to spend more than 30 minutes together! We slept in a little and then made breakfast.  (Much better than the ziplock baggy of cereal I eat on the way to work everyday!) The weather was absolutely beautiful so we were able to take Tuck on a little walk! He loves to get out of the house and stretch his legs.

We made a trip to Lowe's, isn't that what we're supposed to do as new homeowners? Lol and then we headed home so Nathan could get ready for work.

My parents came over this afternoon to hang out with me and help me unpack some more.  It's coming along! Hopefully, I'll be able to post pictures soon.  I'm just a perfectionist and there is still a lot to do...

I cannot believe that we are less than a month away from meeting our little girl! This coming Monday I will be 37 weeks. I start my weekly doctor's visits on Thursday.  I feel like she's already dropping a little bit, I can breathe a little easier! Hopefully, her furniture will get here this week so we can set up her room.  Right now her stuff is everywhere! When my parents came today they brought the little crib that my great grandpa made, and that we all slept in.  It's the perfect size for our room and it will be great for her first weeks at home!

I'm living for the weekends these days, by Friday I feel like I'm hanging on by a thread! I plan on sleeping in tomorrow and doing some more unpacking...and grading papers.  (All while watching football of course!)  Nathan's going to the Cowboys game tomorrow...he has all the fun! Can you tell I'm jealous?! Hopefully, he'll be home in time for us to go to evening church!

We're home!

When we initially decided to move back to the metroplex we told ourselves we would live at Nathan's parent's house for a couple of months while we searched for a home to buy.  Little did we know that a couple of months would turn into 8!

We long overstayed our welcome, and we are so thankful that his parents let us live with them for that long...but living out of boxes--especially while you're in nesting mode is difficult.

We looked at a bunch of houses and eventually decided to go the new construction route which had major pros...and cons. The process began in February.  It was very exciting in the beginning but we ran into some bumps along the way. Ours definitely wasn't a smooth process but after our closing being pushed back 5 times, we FINALLY made it a week ago Friday.

We signed our lives away that afternoon and stayed on an air mattress in our very own bedroom that night! We were too excited to wait for our mattresses.

We spent all day Saturday packing up our things from both of our parent's houses.  Emerson's stuff alone took up an entire car! It's crazy that you can actually see the floor in their dining rooms now.

My mom spent all day Saturday, and a large part of the day Sunday putting shelf paper in all of our cabinets.  Thank God for her because I HATE doing that! My dad and Nathan took the brunt of the heavy lifting, and it was a family affair getting the ceiling fans put in.

Nathan's family brought the final van load of our stuff, and our most precious cargo--Tuck Tuck! They also brought us dinner, so sweet!

We are so appreciative of all the support our families give us.  I'm grateful...truly grateful.

The rest of our stuff from storage arrived on Thursday.  There are boxes everywhere...it's going to be a long process--and although I'm tempted to unpack like a crazy person, I'm making myself rest a little too.

Right now Nathan and I are working opposite schedules again which really stinks...but what are you going to do? At least I have Tucker to keep me company.  He seems to be adjusting to the new place pretty well--aside from his dislike of the yip yappers that live behind us!

It's good to be home!

It'll happen when it happens!

Welp.  Here I sit...on my parent's couch...still not moved into our house.

I think I'm most frustrated because this situation is completely out of our control, and I am a control freak. It's okay...I'll admit that.  It's just that with a baby coming, and having a new job I don't have a lot of spare time on my hands to get our house ready--which is why I had my heart set on moving in before the school year started.  But, God has other plans...so here we are!

The tentative plan is to close this coming Friday, but I'm not holding my breath.

Let's just say I'll be a happy camper when all is said and done.  And praise God for the difficulty of moving into our own house! I mean, what a good "problem" to have.

On another note, I wrapped up my first week of teaching on Friday! It was a loooooong week and I am still worn out. (I should probably get used to that feeling.)  But I am loving getting to know my students and co-workers.

Nathan worked every evening last week so we didn't get to see each other at all.  Such a bummer! Especially because I had a lot to tell him about my first week at work.  Hopefully, this week will be better.  I miss just getting to talk to him! It's the little things...

On Saturday morning (6:30 is way too early for my first day off) we headed to College Station to drop off a dresser for Katie.  Thankfully, my dad drove so I could sleep in the car! When we finally made it to College Station the A&M football was getting ready to start.  There is nothing like being in College Station on game day.  It made me so sad that I wasn't going to the game! After we dropped off her dresser we headed to have lunch at Chicken Oil Company. They have the BEST burgers, and we got to watch the game while we ate.

After lunch we drove to Lufkin.  Once we got to Lufkin we dropped our luggage off at Mawmaw's house and then we headed to Jasper to have dinner with Nana and Papa for Nana's birthday.  It was great to see them and Uncle Jerry and Donna.  After dinner we headed back to Mawmaw's and went to work on Emerson's crib skirt. Holy moly...I didn't realize how much time it would take! Here we are working on it together as one big happy family!

Courtney and Mawmaw worked their tushies off and finished it for me after I had to leave.  Mawmaw said that next time she's just going to buy bedding for me. Haha! Thanks so much for putting it all together you two, I can't wait to see it!

Sunday half of us went to church with Mawmaw and Pawpaw and the other half went with Nana and Papa.  Afterwards, we went back and set up for my baby shower! My aunts and grandma are so sweet for putting it all together for me.  I had such a good time seeing everyone! It's sad that I won't be back until probably Christmas.  Emmy will be too little to travel for Thanksgiving.

Anyways, she got a TON of stuff.  We are definitely set in the clothes department! I can't wait to get into our house so I can get her room all set up! :)

After the shower we headed home.  My parents unloaded all the gifts...they can't wait for us to get our own place either.  We have taken over their other living room with all of Emerson's stuff!

Monday was Labor Day.  Nathan had to work--of course, so I spent the day packing up our room at his parents.  I took a break to go say bye to one of my best friends.  She's doing big things for the Lord and I can't wait to see how He uses her in Camden, NJ! Please be praying for her. She leaves tomorrow and it's going to be a long drive! I'll be looking forward to Christmas break so I can see her and she can meet Emerson! Until then Skype will have to do! I'm praying for you Jenn!

I finished the day at dinner with my mom. I love just getting to sit and talk with her! She's a lifesaver.

Today starts the beginning of another busy week, but hey--at least it's already Tuesday. :)

Back to School!

The first day of school was a success! It was crazy and hectic and scattered, but that's what I expected.  I honestly wasn't nervous like I thought I would be, and I can only attribute it to the fact that I have wanted to be in my own classroom for years and years...and the day finally arrived!

It's only Tuesday and I'm already beat.  Dead tired.  I would have gone to bed when I got home at 6:00 but I was afraid I would wake up in the middle of the night and be wide awake forever...which happens to me fairly often now.  The little one is messing with my sleep habits! She's 33 weeks along as of yesterday and that is CRAZY to me! Approximately 7 weeks until we meet here, I have tears welling in my eyes as I think about it.  (Happy tears of course!)

We actually had our walk through yesterday! Talk about a long day.  I headed straight over to the house when I left work at 4:30.  I had to go by myself because Nathan and my dad had to work but Courtney met me up there.  She's no homebuilding expert, but she's good for moral support. :)  It took about an hour, and we're set to close on Friday! I'm not holding my breath...but at least I can get a little excited.  Since we officially did the walkthrough I feel more confident about it this time.  Keeping our fingers crossed!

Already slackin'

It's been a while since I've had a chance to write; I started inservices last week and have been working non-stop since then! I won't bore you with the lame details of what my first week as a  teacher looked like--just a bunch of sitting and listening...and sitting and listening...and sitting and listening. Ugh! But I did get a couple partial days this week to finish getting my class together.  What a job! Thankfully Nathan and my parents were able to help me as much as they could.  I can't do any heavy lifting so they took care of all of that. SO helpful! But my to do lists were/are never ending.

Making progress...slowly!

Nathan joined a soccer league this summer with some of his buddies.  They got into the competitive division which proved to be tougher than they thought, but they still had fun! Aside from the games being so late, I really enjoyed going to watch. :) Here's a few pictures from the night he had/got to play goalie.

I took a break from working in my class two weekends ago and enjoyed our first baby shower! My sisters and sweet friends Sydne and Noelle did an awesome job of putting it together.  It meant so much to me that everyone came to celebrate Emerson.  She got sooooo many cute outfits! I can't wait to dress her up.  We all enjoyed snacking and talking and taking pictures. It was a blast, and I'm so grateful to everyone who took time out of their weekend to be there.

Gift overload!

I sat through campus meetings on Monday and Tuesday and I have really enjoyed getting to know my team and other teachers at Camey.  I'm really excited about working with them this year! Today I worked my tail off from 7:45 this morning to get ready for Meet the Teacher Night! Wow...it was exhausting but it went way better than I expected. I loved getting to meet the kiddos and talk with their parents.  They all seem so eager to learn, it's exciting. :)

An update on the house:  We are supposed to do our walk through on Monday.  But I'm not holding my breath because they've pushed it back about 5 times now.  We'll see...my hopes of having our house set up before baby gets here are becoming dimmer and dimmer--but as long as we have a house, I'm counting my blessings.

School starts on Monday, therefore I'm sure these posts are going to be even more few and far between.  I apologize...but there are only so many hours in a day and mine will be full of planning, teaching, trying to finalize our house, preparing for Emerson.  Holy cow...it makes me tired just thinking about it.

I'm sorry I haven't posted pictures of Emerson's 3D ultrasound! I'll hopefully figure out how to get them on here soon.  That was an experience...let's just say she seems like she's going to be stubborn like her momma.  Lol but after an hour we were finally able to get a decent picture of her face :)

We went to the doctor today, her heartbeat sounds great and measurements are right on track!
I can't believe she'll be here in less than 2 months! Wow....
